'The Opposite Sex' was a re-make of this movie also

"The Opposite Sex" was a remake made in 1958, only that version had men in it also. Mary was played by June Allyson and Stephen was Leslie Neilson. Crystal was Joan Collins. It was much better than either the 1939 version, which I saw last night, and the 2008 version I watched tonight. I Netflixed both versions just to compare, and I thought the 1939 version was corny. The 2008 version is better, but "The Opposite Sex' is best.

Finally! I remember a remake/different version of The Women, that actually had men in it, and this is it! Thanks! It was driving me crazy.

However, I didn't like this version too much, because I really don't like June Allyson.

Someone who thinks either remake is an improvement on the original is not just a movie illiterate, but probably illiterate as well. "The Women" (1939) was written by two incredibly clever writers in the finest moment of each of their careers, and it was performed by a cast that modern film could not possibly match. Seriously, who did you get to type in your opinion for you? I am embarrassed for your whole family.

One thing I have noticed about true movie afficiantos is that they realize that everyone has their own opinion of what a movie brings to them. I did not like the original movie. I thought it was very irritating and was almost tempted to not watch all of it. However, just because I don't like it is no sign that you shouldn't, so enjoy !

There's also another version, a West German production from 1977 (which I haven't seen) - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0076053/
