Most Re-Watchable Movie Ever Made?

THE WOMEN is a true rarity - a film you could watch countless times and always be entertained. The most amazing thing is the lines are just as funny the twentieth time you heard them as the first. I can only think of GONE WITH THE WIND and the 1940 PRIDE AND PREJUDICE as other films I could watch every few months and thoroughly enjoy it each time, not just be semi-watching like you often do when you've seen a movie before.

The Women'39 is in my top 20.
The Philadelphia Story is in my top five.
Strangley In the Heat of the Night has become one of my all time favs just recently.

These films among others I will watch whenever that come on.

I have had days infinitely more enjoyable

I 100% agree on The Philadelphia Story! That movie never gets old. And The Women could be watched over and over again just for the fashion, but they managed to make it funny too!

"I like to think you killed a man...it's the romantic in me."

reply

Definately The Women! I watch that movie all the time. I think it helps that they speak really quickly because i catch something new each time.

Also:

The Quiet Man
Pride and Prejudice (BBC 1995 version)
The Awful Truth
The Philadelphia Story
The Thin Man and After the Thin Man

Very true and also the fact that it's a comedy with a lot of lines that hold up and make you laugh no matter how often you've heard them.

You betcha,
We have this film on DVD and happy watch it at least twice a year and love it every time.

The other film series we can do this with are:

The Thin Man series

It's A Wonderful Life

and Die Hard

reply

I totally agree, I have watched it dozens of times and never once tired of it.

My other most watchable films are;

Singin' in the Rain

All About Eve

Mame (I don't expect others to agree with me on this one!)

reply

I love "Mame". I've seen it many times.

reply

I haven't seen All About Eve yet, but I loved the other two!

"You should learn not to compete with me; I always win!"

reply

I've seen it so many times - my brother has, too - We can recite the dialogue...

‘Six inches is perfectly adequate; more is vulgar!' (Prime of Miss Jean Brodie Re: An open window).

reply

I watched this so many times in college, that like you and your brother, I would be saying the dialouge along with the characters.
Not sure how many friends I made sit through it. Most of them liked it, although it took awhile for them to get into the story.
I had to take a break for awhile, after so many viewings.
I usually watch it once a year now, maybe twice.
Still so much fun.

reply

For me the most watched movie of all time is All About Eve. Sublime in every aspect.
