Does Anyone Know why Cary Grant was only in the first Topper?

Just curious since the first movie was so much fun.

According to Ben Mankiewicz(?)tonight on TCM Grant had become Cary Grant and didn't need to do the sequel. By the way, my brother ran across an old theater magazine of maybe 90 years ago with Billie Burke and numerous stage performers who would later become character actors.

One of the actresses was my grandmother Dot Buckley who I don't think ever appeared in the movies.

Hey, thanks, pjwoodall1! I never thought of that.

Your brother's old theater magazine might be worth a lot although since one of the actresses was your grandmother it might be worth a lot more to your family. Thanks again.

My brother found a second magazine highlighting Scandals of 1920. My aunt Pat went to dancing school with Shirley Temple and Dad won a baby contest and got a movie contract when he was about 5. "Then my parents got divorced and that was the end of my movie career."

The family tradition skipped a few generations until my niece had a prominent role in an independent romantic musical comedy Welcome to Harlem a few years ago. The movie premiered at the Apollo and played in festivals but never found a distributor. But it is on DVD.

We used to live in Mount Rainier Md where the real life "Exorcist" took place, but that's another story.
