Historical anachronisms.

Much like the Roy Rogers TV show, Three Texas Steers is an interesting blend of the Old West (horses used everywhere, posses on horseback, everyone packing six-guns, western-style garb, etc.) and modern-day (1939) emenities (state-of-the-art racetrack, electric public address system, modern telephones and plumbing, modern clothing, and modern motor vehicles - including a World War Two-era Universal Carrier - a tracked weapon-carrier often used to mount Bren Guns on during WWII). As with the Roy Rogers Show, these anachronisms are impossible to reconcile logically, but are fun to take notice of.
