RKO cinematography

For a small motion picture studio with upper management in constant turnover and turmoil, RKO kept its black and white photography of Fred and Ginger excellent and stunning throughout the years.

The striking Art Deco sets and perfect cinematography gave the public what it most needed during the Depression. Having those expert technical crews made RKO movies the classics that they remain today.

I've seen so many really good RKO movies, that when I see the radio tower at the beginning of a new one, I am confident it will be good too. It lasted well into the Forties. It was not just photography and sets, but good writing, directing and casting too.

Believe it or not, you can still see that globe that was in the radio tower logo atop a building at the corner of Melrose Avenue and N. Gower Street in Hollywood.

That building today is a corner of the Paramount Pictures lot.
