Running Time/Narration

The running time of this film is 110 minutes, yet on video and DVD releases it is only about 95 minutes. Does anyone know why this is? And is it me, or is that Lionel Barrymore speaking the opening narration - I know it must be him (the voice is unmistakable, I'm so sure I even sent the credit in to imdb) but I can't find any conformation anywhere that it is?

It ran for 95 minutes yesterday on BBC2.

You would think that the BBC would not run the American (cut) version of 95 mins.

I have no good reason and suspect that monkeys possess some sort of soul. Geode
