BFI skipped two scenes

If you love this film, I highly recommend the "BFI Film Classics" book by Edward Buscombe.
It's very much like a commentary track in written form.
However, toward the end of the story, the author gets a little off track
and starts comparing "spaghetti westerns" and misses two scenes I would like to discuss:

The first one is after Luke Plummer is informed about the Ringo Kid, he goes to the bar,
orders a drink and sees the piano player staring back at him.
I've rewound and watch this scene over and over and it never fails to impress me.
The look the piano player gives Luke seems to make him momentarily unsure of himself.
It's a very powerful little scene that really adds to the suspense.

The second is Luke's confrontation with Doc.
Doc approaches the bar when everyone else has backed away.
In stopping Luke from taking the shotgun he is, in reality, risking his life for the Kid.

Anyone have any comments on these two scenes?

Yes, I love that scene where Doc stops Luke and threatens to have him indicted for murder. The look on Thomas Mitchell's face is terrific. He truly steals every scene he's in!

That's a bit of redemption for the doc, who you were hoping would give up drinking, especially after the pregnancy situation, but hadn't.
