Meant to be a Series?

I've read that this movie was meant to be a series. But I believe that there is one main reason why it was called off: Herbert Mundin, who played Layton the butler, was tragically killed in an automobile accident. Sadly, this is his last film.

Mr. Mundin was a fine character actor. My favorite portrayal of his is as Much the Miller, one of Robin's loyal Merrie Men who flirts with Maid Marian's lady-in-waiting, played by the wonderful, incomparable Una O'Connor, in "The Adventures of Robin Hood(1938)".
