Gladys George stole the show

She was amazing. Too bad she was not in more movies. Really held her own with bogey and cagney

Agree. She deserved the academy award for best supporting actress.

As "Panama" Smith, Miss George delivers the memorable closing line (”He used to be a big shot!") to one of the absolute greatest film endings of all time. Wish she'd been paired with Cagney and Bogey more often.

Okay folks, show's over, nothing to see here!

Love it when she bashes the guy over the head with the vase, then puts the flowers on him and tells him to put them in water.

Gladys George is one of the very best! Even in minute parts, she steals every scene she's in. This is one of her best.

I loved both Panama Smith and Miss George's portrayal of her.
She was the tough dame with the heart of gold--just like Belle Watling in GWTW.

I feel like Gladys George's performance as Panama was a big influence on the way Patricia Arquette handled her role in Boardwalk Empire a couple of years ago.
