I don't know what I was expecting

I went into this film with low expectations, knowing exactly what the story was behind it. I must admit I laughed my ass off when I found out they had cast Bogart as a vampire/scientist hybrid. He was at his best when he was playing cool, gangster types like in The Maltese Falcon or The Petrified Forest.

So it goes without saying that this is probably the last kind of character you would expect Bogart to play. But honestly, he was the best part of the film. And that is saying a lot considering how poorly mis-cast he was. The main concept of the film was actually quite creative and interesting. It's such a shame the main characters were so damn uninteresting. And my god, Wayne Morris was a horrible actor. I so badly wanted Doctor X to kill him off, but no such luck.

For what it was, I found that it fit into the "so bad it's good" category. I would watch it again, but only for Bogart. And of course I do have a soft spot for old, cheesy horror flicks. 5/10.
