Simon Lack... what might have been

I'm a new fan of an actor named Simon Lack - third-billed in this movie, I believe his last for 7 years, as he must have enrolled in some armed force and been off fighting the war.

When he returned, he never had a starring role, or even a co-starring role again, as far as I can see. Although he appears in a lot of TV episodes, he's very much a minor character in them, and I can't help but wonder why.

I wonder if he spent most of his time as a radio and stage actor, with only the occasional TV ep, just to keep his hand in? He appeared in at least 9 of the Paul Temple radio dramas - indeed, that's how I first came across him, his vocal work as Carl Lathom in Paul Temple and the Alex Affair is masterful.

Any fans of Simon Lake here? If so, what *did* he do in WWII?
