Funny sound glitch

I may have a defective copy but I hope not because this is soooo funny. It's in the scene where Bette's character has just had enough and confronts Miriam's about lying to her only suitor. (She's told him that Charlotte was sick and couldn't be a good wife, so he dumped her.) Just after Bette screams at her and turns to walk away, there is an audible flump, which made it seem that Miriam has fainted and hit the floor.

I heard it too!It even seems that Miriam falls but I don't think it's the case tho!

"Loved???!!You never loved anybody but yourself!!"

Must have been some equipment falling off screen. They didn't have the technology to filter something like that out.

No two persons ever watch the same movie.

That's not all. The music is very strange. There's a recurring theme that's identical to the old campfire song, "Found a peanut, found a peanut. . . " It takes away some of the dignity of the picture.

But Bette has never looked lovelier. God, how those corsets must have pinched!

The music is actually an American folk song called "Clementine". Since the daughter's name is Clementina, it's actually very appropriate.

reply

Yes, that's right:
"Oh my darling, oh my darling. Oh my darling, Clementine,
You were lost and gone forever, dreadful sorrow, Clementine."
