Which way did he go George?
Loved this movie but I had a hard time not flashing to all the Bugs Bunny/Looney Tunes cartoons which parodied George and Lennie.
"I will name him George, and I will hug him, and pet him, and squeeze him"

I thought the same thing! I googled it and found out alot about Lenny being referenced in several cartoons.

Yeah, I kept thinking of that too. "My own litt-le bunn-y rabbit. I will name him George, and I will hug him and pet him and squeeze him... "
shareThere's also an obscure reference to that scene in the comedy "Tommy Boy" when Tommy is calling a roll his "Pretty little pet" You can see it on youtube:

I wonder if it's coincidental or intentional though
An atheist cannot guard his faith too carefully. Dangers lie in wait for him on every side.
I had a girl friend I use to do that to, I would talk like Lenny and tell her how I would love her and pet her etc. and when I would say I'm going to name her George, she would crack up
shareThis was my first time watching this movie and I kept thinking that Lennie's way of speaking sounded very familiar but I couldn't place it. Now I know! Thanks for posting this thread--it brought back memories watching BB cartoons...And I'm old enough to remember them when they weren't censored/edited...
shareEver see any of Fred Avery's "George and Junior" films for Metro?
Two inept bear characters that were in a series of shorts throughout the 40's.
My wife is prone to give me simple and obvious direstions. I'll reply with "OK George, I'll do what you tell me to do - then can I have a rabbit?"
