This is one of my favorite movies of all time.

It is one of the few movies I've seen that do justice to the book.

Another one that did justice to the book, in my opinion, was To Kill a Mockingbird. The movie even has the same "feeling" that the book has.

It's a heck of a lot better-in my opinion- than the letter version with Gary Sinise and John Malkovitch.

Some movies are perfect and shouldn't be remade. This is one of those.

which is i felt Sinise was ridiculous when he said he didn tlike the original version and he felt he could a much better job.

I really like Lieutenant Dan (Forrest Gump) but, he's wrong about the original Of Mice and Men.

I wholeheartedly agree, which is why it has always been my all-time favorite movie. I have always liked movies with friendship as a theme and this one is the best.

Many people feel that Hemmingway was America's greatest contemporary writer, but I've always felt that it was Steinbeck. In my opinion, his works translate much better to the screen than Hemmingway and yes, the movies made from Steinbeck's works are more faithful to the books. I can't remember seeing a Steinbeck movie that I didn't like, or a Hemmingway movie that I did.

I would also agree that Gary Sinese was miscast in the role of George (I've never been a big fan of his), but I was impressed with John Malkovitch's performance. I would have preferred to see Gary Oldham as Lenny, but since it was Sinese's production, that was not likely. Sinese would have been better cast as Curly (he does play a good 'heavy').

I also have seen the TV movie, with Robert Blake and Randy Quaid, but not for many years. I'll have to dig out the video tape and watch it again

Nothing comes close to the original, in my opinion. But, Gary Sinese would be good as Curly, that's true.

Of Mice and Men was on TCM last night. I recorded it. It's one of those I like to see many times, and it stays fresh.

i agree as well.

The lost Weekend is also on that list, although they had to change a few things to fit the production code of that time.

This is a wonderful film. It captures the heart and soul of the book perfectly. I recently downloaded a digital copy for my iPad, so I can enjoy it almost anywhere. I hope to get the Blu-Ray at some point.
