The "drunk scene" is vulgar?

The Trivia section reads that Garbo was reluctant to do the drunk scene because she considered it vulgar. How so? What about it is actually "vulgar" in particular?

Is it just that this role is such a departure from her classic roles?

I think Garbo would have felt that way because he character had lost control of her behavior. In real life Garbo was extremely disciplined and I doubt if she ever tippled, let alone became inebriated. Of course, Ninotchka becomes intoxicated as part of her deprogramming.

"No, I don't like to cook, but I have a chicken in the icebox, and you're eating it."
