I Have Never Understood 'Garbo' Mystique

She had a pretty face but her shoulders, hands, and feet look too big for a woman. Also, her "acting" is boring to me. It seemed to consist of her staring off into the distance while being constipated.

Are you basing your opinion on Garbo in general, or Ninotchka in particular? I didn't really think she had anything special until I saw A Woman of Affairs, Grand Hotel, Queen Christina, and especially this movie.

She does appear stiff, but that's because her character is an uptight, strictly business, communist in the beginning. If you don't see a difference in her during the second half of the movie, I don't know what to tell you. I think she is beautiful and amazing.

I agree with the above reply. And, the direction is great, the writing superb! Without cream! :-)

KIAI ... please.

The silent A Woman of Affairs is a great movie, one of Garbo's most under appreciated.
