Ted's Top

In much of the movie Ted is wearing a sweatshirt that is covered with hand-printed names and clumsy drawings of a sailboat and a cat-like creature. The names include Jimmy, Butch Hogan, Fanny K, Darby McGraw, Nancy Drew, and Hazel, among others, and it's as if they were written by different people. Was that a thing in the 1930s to have others write all other your clothes? Anyone know?

looks like a Summer camp sweatshirt and I wouldn't be surprised. Some kids still do it, had a few seniors at the school I work at do the same thing last year.
