White Men Playing Asians

There were plenty of Asians in this film, so there was no shortage of Asian actors in '39. Yet the roles of at least two, including the lead, were filled by white men. Ridiculous, awkward, and just plain silly casting.

What a racist comment.

There was only one Asian role played by a non-Asian--the title role, Mr. Wong, played by Boris Karloff. The other Asian characters were all played by Asian actors.

I don't see the harm in it. It's only a movie and a harmless piece of entertainment. I Seriously couldn't care less whether the Asian character was played by an actual Asian or a white, black, French person etc. As long as they are putting in a good performance and making the movie as entertaining as possible. Surely that's all that should matter.
