Does everyone else always do like I do, during this movie, and...?

During this movie, does everyone else, when Terry says that her mother always told her never to enter a man's room in any months ending in "r," then recite all the months of the year in your head, to determine, exactly, what all months DON'T end with the letter "r"? I never can help myself doing that, every time I watch this movie! (For the record, the months NOT ending with "r" are: January, February, March, April, May, June, July, and August - which means that Terry's mother certainly didn't give her a very effective cautionary rule to go by! LOL)

It's supposed to be like that saying "You can only eat oysters in months ending with r"

I thought it was a very strange comment given how many months do not end in "r" - and that since Boyer and Dunne agree to meet again in six months in July we know this happened in January which is not an "R" month!! It makes me wonder if Irene perhaps said the line wrong and the line actually was "on days that end in y" which is a fairly common phrase but then maybe it was just the screenwriter playing on this phrase for a laugh.

When she makes the "r" comment it is likely December. Their ill-fated meeting is shown occurring on July 1, which means the boat docked on Jan 1. They met on the boat well before Jan 1 though.
