The most startling entrance for any actress

Hedy's first entrance was just that. Her beauty was absolutely stunning. The music background and the photography was excellent. Would have loved to see that scene in Technicolor...in fact the entire movie called for Technicolor. Unfortunately, Technicolor in those days were not so easy to come by, with the on coming world war 2. Her performance matched her beauty in this one..she was so child like, and lied at times just like one. I loved that scene where they both caught in a shower and her hair getting messed up, and not caring at all. Found out later, much later, that that beauty was matched with brains...a rare combo.

Yes, her entrance was breathtaking, but I wouldn't say startling. For startling entrances, I'd have to nominate Bette Davis in the opening scene of "The Letter" (1940). But for what you mean, I'd also have to put forth Rita Hayworth and her famous hair-toss in "Gilda" (1946).

I do agree that Hedy's brains matched her beauty in that she helped to invent the frequency-hopping technology to securely control torpedos in WWII - and that we still use in cell phones today.
