I know it was a very different time, but SO MANY racial epithets tossed around... wow...

The 1930's was literally the zenith of Eugenics ("scientific" racism) worldwide. The USA, UK, and Germany were the major countries embracing Eugenics. Woodrow Wilson was just such a eugenics President, as was FDR.

These racial "epithets" were merely viewed as "scientific" reality.

And BTW - Eugenics racism WAS taught in just about every biology textbook in both High Schools and College up until 1940.

Google both "Man's Most Dangerous Myth" by Montagu (one of the first anti-eugenics scientists of broad influence) and Carleton Coon (not joking - one of the most influential eugenics scientists and text book writers in the USA, proselytizing eugenics racism into the 1960's).

The Eugenics Program started in earnest two weeks after the release of this movie when Hitler invaded Poland in September 1939.
