What Scenes Were Cut When the 132-Minute Original Was Slashed?

My VHS of Juarez (Key Video = CBS/Fox Home Video) runs about 2 hours and 25 seconds. That's about 12 minutes short of the original 132 minutes.

I see that the MGM VHS runs about 2 hours and 3 minutes, but does it contain any more scenes, or does it just play a little more slowly with the same contents?

The new Warner Archive DVD appears to have a run time of about 2 hours, i.e., the same as the Key Video VHS.

So it looks as if we have *at most* only 123 minutes of the original 132 minutes, no matter which product you buy -- and it may be that even the 123-minute MGM is not actually any longer than the others in terms of actual material contained.

I strongly suspect that some scenes of Bette Davis in France were cut, as the last part of the film is spotty on the progress of her madness; also, it seems, some of the intrigues involving Joseph Calleia's character may have been trimmed. Does anyone know anything about possible deletions and what they contained?

The answer to your question seems to be in one of the IMDB reviews of this movie, the one written by "theowinthrop." He describes additional scenes of Paul Muni as Juarez and John Garfield as Porfirio Diaz.
