One of the Best 'tear-jerkers' of all time!

This movie is one of the best 'tear-jerkers' ever! Ranks up there with Miracle in the Rain and Penny Serenade.

I love the performances of Grant and Lombard, but the supporting roles are also superb especially Kay Francis, as the overbearing, manipulative wife!

Get a box of Kleenex and enjoy!

Yes it was sad!

I'd rank it up there with another great Lombard movie that came out in the same year.."Made for Each Other" with Jimmy Stewart.

Carole Lombard is so great in this, that if you'd never seen one of her comedies, and had only seen this, you'd have thought she was strictly a dramatic actress. She is scary good. I love the part where she's listening to the doctor before going in to see her ill sweetheart. With her quivering chin and tear-filled, worried eyes, her grief seems very real. God, it's good. She breaks my heart.

RE: tearjerkers - DARK VICTORY still gets to me after all these years. A PLACE IN THE SUN, the "I'll be lonesome for you, Jo, even in heaven" scene in the June Allison version of LITTLE WOMEN, Jean Parker's death scene in the Hepburn version of LITTLE WOMEN. And, oh yes, MIRACLE IN THE RAIN with Van Johnson. I LOVE that movie. MAKE WAY FOR TOMORROW is a heartbreaker, too. And, thought it's really, really old, Lillian Gish's death scene in BROKEN BLOSSOMS is still a killer, too. JOHNNY EAGER is still very moving. Lana's big "I won't talk" scene left me a sobbing mess when I was a kid. And, of course, it has that great tearjerker ending. Oh, and I loved Myrna Loy's death scene in THE RAINS CAME, with Tyrone Power whispering to her of all the exotic places they'll go together.

Sorry this was so long. I got carried away!

Although it's a much more recent film than the ones on your list, the only movie that made me cry was My Left Foot, with Daniel Day-Lewis. That was only a few tears. But, as a male, I'm not ashamed to admit it.

I missed the first part of the film but it was definitely very touching at the end...And, it did make me tear up a little...What a great picture!

Of the movies you listed that I've seen, I loved them all and found them wonderfully sad and moving. You make me want to see The Rain Came, I can imagine Myrna and Tyrone probably had great chemistry!

I've never seen Carole Lombard so good in anything as she was in this movie. I LOVED her!

I love TCM & have checked schedule since June & only one Carole Lombard movie has been on.
I ordered the DVD of this & plan to watch it very soon.

I hope by now you've seen this movie. It's definitely worth watching! I had never heard of it and only just saw it today myself but boy am I glad it came up recently on TCM's lineup. If you still haven't seen it, stop reading now - Spoiler Alert!

I love both Cary Grant and Carole Lombard but I had no idea what to expect. Even Kay Francis is one of my favorites but I don't think I'd ever seen her quite like she is in this role.

The movie starts off kind of sweet like we're in for a classic romance but it soon moves to something totally different. I like the way information is revealed so that we get an initial impression then learn more about what's really going on.

It's a roller coaster ride for sure. The first drop is when we meet Maida. I was so upset I couldn't see straight. Things were kind of up and down from there. I went from happy to sad, angry, and mad and a few other emotions. I love movies that stir up my emotions and this movie certainly did that.

I watched the DVD last year & watched again when TCM had 4-5 of Carole's films on October 6, her birthdate. But they started very early in the morning, but all were on TCM on demand.

I watched Vigil in The Night & know it wasn't a hit, but it is a great one too.
