Clark Gable--pre Carol Lombard's death.

I am a huge Clark Gable fan and I esp am into his war record in WWII and all of his films and the life he spent with Lombard. This movie was filmed BEFORE the death of his beloved wife Carol Lombard. IN all of the movies after her death and after the war there is a huge difference in the performances, there is always a sadness and despondency in him no matter how good the performance he gives after her death it is always there.

In Idiots Delight I noticed that there is a huge difference in his soul, you could tell he was personally happy and satisfied, after Lombard's death that happiness in his soul is not there.

As a huge fan I can tell there is a huge difference in his acting (both good) before her death and after. Has anyone else noticed this. After her death and after the war you can tell he was a changed man, in a huge way.

Next chance you get give a look at the Clark before and after and you will see what I mean.

I have learned that Clark Gable almost died in WWII but was saved by a GI, but I can find little information about this online. If anyone has any information on this please contact me.

I do notice a difference. There is no doubt he and Lombard were definitely soul mates and shared a screwball comedic spirit. I've seen home movies they made. There is video of him during the preparations for GWTW in costume and he has this real flat expression. Like he'd rather be anywhere else. I just got the impression this very nice looking guy just woke up one day and found he was a big movie star. I think he was shy and his masculine nature was on guard during each performance. He died all too young at only 56 of a heart attack but I believe he had remarried and a baby was born a few months after his death.
