WHO is the UGLY Blonde Woman?

I saw this tonight on TCM, having watched it multiple times before,
dating back to childhood. In several scenes, one SUPER-BUTT-UGLY blonde
woman stands out in the crowd. She is first gnawing on a piece of
bread in a crowd scene while Laughton is being beaten. And in nearly
every crowd scene after, she is shown clearly, probably because she
looks so homely, ignorant and mean. In the very last scene, she's the
woman who shows O'Brien where Mitchell is as he lays dying. Does
anyone know who I mean and if this fish-faced, shrimp-eyed creature
is billed??

Minna Gombell? She doesn't seem like a pageant winner but I don't know that I'd call her ugly. Of course Hollywood has standards that don't apply in real life.

Looks like anyone I'd see walking down the street. Different hairstyle maybe.

Far from ugly. Minna gombell played the wife of Clopin, king of thieves. Mis Gombell was a fine character actress and bit player.

Played Oliver Hardy's wife once. That must have been fun!

Yep! Almost forgot that performance!

What a disgusting attitude. Clearly none of the films messages rubbed off on you.

reply

Charles Laughton.
