Only my opinion but I think it was just error on the Studio's part. Richard Greene was at this time already considered a "handsome leading man" in movies.

Basil Rathbone was already a "star" but not nor ever considered a "leading man". Obviously the Studio corrected their error quickly. And the rest they say is History.

Oh. Richard Greene went on to play Robin Hood on TV.
