DVD release?

They just showed this film on the Fox Movie Channel, and judging from what they aired I'd say there aren't any plans to release this on DVD. The print was in bad shape, colorwise. All the rich Technicolor hues are washed out. It would take a considerable restoration effort to get it more presentable. But this film isn't a "Gone With The Wind" or "Robin Hood", so I would not deem it likely they'd go to all the trouble. Why they bothered making a movie like this--which simply cries out to be a musical--without giving Alice Faye and Don Ameche anything to sing I can't see.

It will be released on DVD on August 26th.

Netflix has the DVD now. It's excellent!
