the Black Beauty

what kind of car was it, and who did the custom chrome work on it?

A member of the Green Hornet discussion group at Yahoo Groups, specifically identifying himself as "'Edward'", "hornet6656" and "[email protected]" said it was a 1937 Lincoln Zephyr 3 passenger coupe. I don't have any particular reason to doubt this person, but I must admit for the record that he gave no indication as to how he would have known this. I say that because I have encountered no other statement anywhere about the true nature of this car. Conversely, there is a huge number of such discussions about the television version of the Black Beauty, which when put together don't quite add up!

Yup it is a 1937 Lincoln Zephyr 3-passenger Coupe..www.imcdb.org, Also indentifies it as that(search green hornet 1940)and shows pics of it too..In my 20 plus years of research on this Black Beauty car, unfortunatly i could never find out who did the customizing on it..It was approved for use in the serial by Mr.George W.Trendle..In the late 80`s and early 90`s this Black Beauty was found and restored by the late Ron Sounders and his helper Bill Robinson..his story of restoring the car is in the "Way of the Zephyr Magizine"(a 35 part story)..When Mr.Sounders died his family sold the car to Charles Hora who stills owns the car today..In some scenes you can see the Lincoln Zephyr badge in the grill..Hope this is helpful as to what kind of car the Black Beauty was in both Green Hornet serials is..Edward..hornet6656...

Edward, I apologize for not noticing the website address in there until now. Allow me to make a genuine link of it, and to the specific page at that: http://www.imcdb.org/movie_31394-The-Green-Hornet.html.
