I saw this movie years ago, and now as a homeschooling mom I have struggled to remember what history the father was using to teach the children. I always recall how impressed the teacher was with the details of what they knew, and the shock when she realized what book they were being taught from. Anyone out there have a copy and remember?

vance teaches his children history from books he wrote at harvard before his personal downfall. the teacher is later amazed to find out who he actually is, since she's read everything he ever wrote.

(i didn't see or hear an actual title of any of his writings in the film.)
