Its an Academy Award winner and arguably the greatest movie ever made. There will be no banning of this matchless classic.
If anything is racist, its this inane posting trying to stir up trouble about nothing.
So, if it is an Academy Award Winner, it is automatically deemed worthy of having zero flaws? Seriously, we cannot allow such racism in our post-race society

People should remember that this movie is responsible for one of the greatest anti-racist moments in movie history. Hattie McDaniel became the first African American to win an Academy Award. So calling for this movie to be banned is the equivalent of erasing her accomplishments.
shareIt is stunningly so .. at the beginning it speaks of the old south "as a time of master and slave, a dream", guess it depends on which side of the equation that you sit, for many it was a nightmare.
The dialog throughout is so longing for a time which is the darkest period of american history save of course these new times.
Then by the same token, isn't the movie and miniseries "Roots" exceedingly racist also? Because it also (and much more stunningly so) depicts the old south and its all its racist ways. Much more illustratively than Gone With the Wind.

shareThanks, but I'm of the judgement you're imposing a double standard. Racism depicted in any shape or form is reprehensible. Whether its the watered-down version of GWTW, or worse, the intense and vile version as seen in Roots. We need to remove these racist artifacts.
shareIt's not the depiction of racism that's the problem, it's the actuality of racism that is. GWTW is the latter not the former.
shareYes, it's not the depiction of racism that's the problem, because totally without intending to this film gives us a nice history of the origins of modern racism! So I can certainly see why blatantly racist characters might make it difficult to watch for some people, but I've always found it a real learning experience as well as an epic film.
Sometimes you can learn a lot about people by looking at the lies they want to believe are true.

Both GWTW and Roots are of the same ilk They are depictions created by Hollywood.
So if GWTW is racist, Roots is racist. Period.

If you hate movies, then why waste your time on a movie board. Gone With the Wind is one of the greatest movies ever done. Til today its the most succesful movie ever made! And it will stay forever. Doesnt matter at all if Nazis like you like to burn/ban it or not.
Does it contain some racist scenes? Indeed it does. Should we talk about this scenes before children watch them? Indeed. Should we send democratic and movie hating freaks like you to North Korea, where they could hate movie masterpieces and democracy as much as they like? Indeed!
Yeah... But let's be honest, the racism is REALLY toned-down in GWTW. I honestly don't see how it could actually offend anyone. Especially when we talk about such a masterpiece.

And for the rest of your comment: It had racist scenes (and yep, they are absolutely toned down. Compare GWTW with other movies from the 30s). But that isnt a real problem. Just tell you children that at that time it was the usual behaviour and today we wont accept many things that were usual back then. Children arent idiots and will understand that. On the other .... some snowflake "adults" seem to be too dumb to get that simply difference. With their braindead mindest we wont even watch anymore most Charlie Chaplin classics cause they had, for example, a different mindset for woman actors. But .... who cares. They are still masterpieces! And every adult knows that women are treated not that way anymore. So we shouldnt waste our time with so much hate like braindead snowflakes.
