Ain't it Peculiar?

After having seen TFD several hundred times, I found it strange that when L&H went back to the Inn to collect their things, they didn't encounter Francois and Georgette there (assuming the former was coming back from headquarters when he spotted and saved them), otherwise the shock of meeting Georgette later wouldn't have been so great, or maybe even they wouldn't have had to join the FFL after all. By the same token, it is obvious that Francois made no mention of his heroic deed to his wife, or else she would have said "Francois! Thet zounds leek Monsouir Hardy et hees freeend. Oh Francois! If they join, pleeeze, 'ow you zay, pull zum strings for them. Make them officers. Please Francois, for me?" Years ago when I showed TFD, "Our Wife", "Me and My Pal", and "Oliver the 8th" to my nephew, he remarked "Gawd! Every time Hardy wants to get married, it gets him into trouble!"
