While watching the movie, I could not help to think that they could have fit another body on the plane. One of the five was a child who could not have weighed that much. All five could have stripped down to their underwear to reduce the weight somewhat and also find some other stuff to toss (I know they tossed a lot of stuff already but they were smart and knew what was absolutely needed and could have found a few extra stuff to discard). Surprised nobody who was left thought of that.

In the dialogue Bill the pilot says: "It can take four, plus the boy." Then he describes his detailed knowledge of the engines. That certainly makes it seem like he had already taken the child's smaller size into account.

The best diplomat I know is a fully charged phaser bank.

And which additional adult would you have aboard, after the plot has played out all of its points? Vasqiez? Only one of the Stenglers?

If they're stripping to their underwear, No Stenglers. Just unpleasant.
