Flowers, flowers everywhere

Yet another movie where I try to count up the endless massive flower arrangements in the mansion of the rich and ditsy. It's a characteristic of the time period these movies were made. Every 'screwball' comedy about rich heiresses and the rich family dressed up in elegant suits or long lace and sequin afternoon frocks - look at the set decoration, the winding staircase, the chandelier, and the huge elaborate flower arrangements. Often multiple, scattered throughout the rooms. A way, I suppose, of flaunting their extreme wealth.

Some rich people actually do have lots of flowers all over. Once in a while there is some high profile divorce in the paper and the itemized weekly or monthly expense of one of the parties is published. it is shocking to see the amount spent on flowers, thousands a month in some cases. Just because you and I don't live that way doesn't mean that some people don't.
