Filming location

I liked that it suppose to take place in Carmel....I only see a studio location but I thought the courthouse scene must of taken place in Carmel Area ....it had a lot of skin at the begining beach scene ...especially for 1939.

The beach scene looks like it might have been filmed on the Monterey Peninsula possibly Carmel Beach, Pebble Beach, or Monterey Municipal Beach. According to one site the film indeed was shot in Monterey but it did not give any detailed filming location information.

I just found out that the courthouse in this film is an actual building in Monterey, California called Colton Hall. It is a museum and it is the home of California's constitution. Luckily there is a scene in the movie with a sign stating "California's Constitution" so it was easy to track down. Why thank you....I have been there but long ago before I knew this movie existed....Will check it out on my next visit
