I just want to add a comment for anyone interested. When Judith finds out the truth she orders prognosis negative then the above line. I believe this references the 1932 Salvador Dali painting Oeufs sur la plat sans la plat which is exactly what she thinks she is being served: hope of a life without the life.

Good catch, but I think it's a bit of a stretch. I've never understood why that line was used, since the reference to Œufs sur le Plat sans le Plat is awfully obscure, even for the average 1939 moviegoer.
