Why would they have to stay there all night?

That only makes sense if the will is read the morning AFTER they get there. If the will is read before they go to bed, why would they need to stay there? The only one that would have to stay would be Joyce as she inherited. Love the film, though.

So I guess Cyrus was trying to cause trouble and stir up the pot against the relatives that he hated, huh? Maybe the recipient would go crazy or another would try to kill him/her.

Cyrus also must have had to guess that the assembled relatives wouldn't be able to get away from the house ten years after he decreed it.
