James Ellison

He may not have been much of an actor, but James Ellison was super hot stuff in this movie. It's worth seeing just for his sex appeal, which was potent enough to give Stewart some real competition. Stewart's the guy you want her to marry, but James Ellison in this film, as a stopover, seems too good to skip.

Trivia:

"In the latter part of his career (early 1950s) he owned a very successful home construction business, from which he made far more money than he did by acting. He built many expensive homes in Beverly Hills, and Ellison Drive in that city is named after him."

Ducdebrabrant, I couldn't agree more!

Thanks for the trivia, flan99.

I imagine he preferred that to being immortalized in the sidewalk like the rest of the Hollywood set. :)

That is something, how many supporting actors veer into a second career in Home Construction or Real Estate, quite a number of them.

Here, James E also delivers a fine comic performance as Peter's (James S) cousin Keith, who goes with Francie (Ginger) but steps aside for Pete's sake a lot more smoothly than Helen (Frances) does for Ginger's sake.

James E seems like a really nice gentleman on top of his clean cut, friendly appearance.

Judging from his performance in Vivacious Lady I have to disagree. His role may not have been of high importance but he certainly succeeded in creating various moments of comic relief.

"I'd rather be hated for who I am, than loved for who I am not".
