Was Myrna Loy Channeling Carol Lombard?

Loy's character seemed very much like the way Carol Lombard was in real life; an elegant woman who could be one of the guys and enjoyed doing guy stuff.

Notice how she pretends to be just as enthusiastic about flying and stoic about it's dangers in front of her test pilot husband.

Had there been a scene where she went on a camping/fishing trip with the guys, she's the type that wouldn't have worried about getting dirty or peeing in the bushes.
