I was wondering if this film was remade into a film called " America's Sweethearts" with julia roberts
shareno its not. totally different and unrelated. i take that back, its main characters are stars. in this movie they r broadway stars though.

The biggest difference between the plot of Sweethearts" and "America's Sweethearts" is that the main characters (Jeanette MacDonald & Nelson Eddy) in the first are separated and come back together. In the second film named, Catherine Zeta-Jones & John Cusack are married in the beginning, but split and he finds his true love with his former sister-in-law, played by Julia Roberts. So be honest, I always found an "ick" factor in that plot turn in "AS."
