I DVR'd this off TCM last week and spent an hour examining their print at 4x speed. IMDB credits list 'Toby Wing' (qv) as a telephone operator (uncredited in the film). I didn't see her in it! She was on Broadway around the production period co-starring in the Cole Porter flop 'You Never Know' and by the release date would've been hot and heavy with pilot Dick Merrill, her future husband. She had appeared in a earlier MGM Technicolor short (Fiesta De La Santa Barbara) and MGM probably would've liked her... Anybody out there see her someplace that I didn't see?

I know it's several years since your reply, but for all it's worth, Toby Wing is to be seen at around 45:30 into the film, but for barely a second. She's one of the telephone operators (if memory serves, she has a green top on) and is only shown partly from behind, her profile only just visible. That was her last appearance on film, and is unfortunately one of those many "blink and you'll miss it" screen appearances.
