submarine patrol....Richard Greene

I'm trying to remember a part of the plot of this movie. Did Richard Green's character date a Navy Chief's daughter..who was against the relationship, and who later was for it, after Greene's heroic action at sea???? Hope someone remembers, Thanks..........Neil Mack
