Others make comparison between this generic plot and Gilligan's Island, etc. - But I think that LOST's creators must have seen this one, since there are so many odd little connections, like the characters who were criminals or politically corrupt in former lives, the doctor/helper, etc... Or am I crazy?

Quite possibly.

Some story theme are fairly constant or consistent from one iteration to the next in retelling. It could be the producers of Lost ferreted out something from MGM's library, but being stranded on a "desert island" or "shipwrecked" isn't a new story device.

Still, the parallels are pretty interesting.
