Pretty risky decision to marry Bill

It was obvious that Daisy was not in love with Bill and was only marrying him to let him go to war with something to live for back home. What would she have done if he hadn't died? Could she have brought herself to divorce him so she could marry Sam? Seems like a rash decision, but I guess there were a lot of those during wartime.
