Similarities with 'The Birds'

Watching Shining Hour on TCM now, and struck by a scene in which Joan meets the sympathetic sister-in-law. This scene is beat for beat similar to the scene in The Birds where Tippi Hedren meets Suzanne Pleshette.

Wonder if Hitchcock was influenced by this film?

Hitchcock was an avid film viewer. I don't know he got the time to do this and make films as well, but I wouldn't be surprised that he was aware of that scene in this movie when planning 'The Birds.'
