I'm very self-reliant!

I really like this movie; very typical shirley temple. However, the repeated line "I'm very self-reliant" drove me crazy. Shirley must of said that like 7 or 8 times in the movie. Did it bother anyone else?

That was the point.

It was "cute". Just like other movies where she says, "Oh my goodness" again and again.
