This is a terrific film. Glad I came across it. Another fine performance by Gabin, great atmosphere and music, but the highlight for me was Michele Morgan. Gorgeous. Even more lovely than in The Fallen Idol.

It seems that for some reason, women in the 1930's/1940's matured faster than they do now - it's equally hard to believe Lauren Bacall was only 20 in The Big Sleep or Veronica Lake similarly 20 in This Gun For Hire... and many more actresses in their early 20's very convinvingly playing world wise dames. Wonder what's up with that...

she was beautiful.
