WhoIS

The store owner's son looks very familiar, and every time he has a line, he has something funny to say. Is that Harpo Marx in a bit part??? He (and a lot of other people) aren't listed in the credits. I can't find any info online either.

THAT was Sterling Holloway you heard and saw...you'd probably recognize his voice if you thought of Disney's Winnie the Pooh..he's the voice of Pooh...

reply

He also did the voice of the stork in Dumbo, if I'm not mistaken.

But prior to his voice acting career, he was a pretty visible character actor in Hollywood. I remember him in Gold Diggers of 1933 and Meet John Doe specifically, but if you check out his filmography, he was in loads of stuff.

reply

Yes, he's one of my favorite character actors of that era. I remember him very well in Remember the Night.

reply

Holloway had not yet developed that distinct and unforgettable voice of his, or else (I'm guessing) he elected or was directed to speak in his natural voice for this picture

reply

I mainly know him as "Bert Miller" (the travelling salesman who is "not pushy") on The Andy Griffith Show.

And he is also the voice of "Kaa" the snake, in Disney's Jungle Book.
