Filmed On The Grounds of Versailles

That's the first time a movie crew was allowed to film there and it was for the making of Marie Antoinette. That Queen really left her presence there. Long after she died (about 145 years to be exact), Versailles hosts a film crew making a recreation of her interesting life.

Reminds me of that interesting story about those two old British schoolteachers in 1901 who take a stroll around the grounds, enter a time warp and see Marie Antoinette sitting on the grass and sketching a picture. Now, it would be really interesting if a movie had been made of THAT story!

The more I study it, the greater the puzzle becomes.

The movie was filmed in Hollywood, however, the studio really did their research. Whenever I visit Versailles I am always taken aback by how accurately the movie depicted the grounds, particularly the scene where the necklace is turned over to the false queen.

Regarding the ghosts at Versailles, although to my knowledge there is no movie based on this story, there was an opera written called "The Ghosts of Versailles" by John Corigliano which may have been inspired by this incident.
