Good movie!

This would be classified as a screwball comedy, and a prelude of sorts to Fonda and Stanwyck's most memorable performance(s) together in The Lady Eve which was fabulous!

I give it an 8/10!

I love Barbara Stanwyk and every movie I've ever seen her in. I also like most Henry Fonda movies and I love romances, romantic comedies, comedies. I knew even before I saw this movie that I'd love it and I did. It has the whodunit aspect to it but there's also a little zaniness and romance thrown in for good measure.

The Mad Miss Manton is really good! I watched it on a whim because I love Barbara Stanwyck so much, but I had no idea I was about to watch a classic. I don't believe I've ever heard anybody mention this as one of her best movies.

One of the best things about the movie was the Character Actor Cavalcade! Every few minutes, one of my favorite character actors would pop in for a few lines.

George Chandler (The Fatal Glass of Beer, The Shanghai Cobra) was one of the guys working at the newspaper.

Grady Sutton (Og Oggilby in The Bank Dick) was the guy in the DA's office trying to keep Melsa from seeing the DA.

John Qualen (Casablanca, His Girl Friday) was the subway watchman.

And Hattie McDaniel (Alice Adams, Murder by Television) had a pretty good part as Hilda, Melsa Manton's maid.

not a bad movie, The Lady Eve was better i thought

and as far as Barbara goes i prefer her as the femme fatale character rather than her screwball comedy characters

so many movies, so little time
