7 kids in the gang; someone dies

The original Dead End Kids consisted of six kids. In this film Jackie Searl joins the gang mid way through the film.Towards the end HuntzHall gets killed. In Hells Kitchen the gang features the six original Dead End Kids plus Frankie Burke as Soap. Bobby Jordan dies. In Angels Wash their Faces Frankie Thomas joins the gang and Bernard Punsly's character dies. In On Dress Parade Frankie Thomas again joins the six original Dead End Kids and if I recall correctly (the last time I saw this film was when it was on TV in sixties so forgive me if Iam wrong) but Gabriel Dell dies. In East Side Kids, rich kid name Algernon joins the gang and the end Hally chester dies. Was their something unlucky about seven in these early "kids" films?
